TopTrending Friday#5- Top 10 Emmy Awards Nominees (PREDICTED) Who Are Expected To Win!

Expect The Unexpected

With the newly announced Primetime Emmy Awards event date- 20th September 2015, a lot of predictions have been going about who will be nominated and even who will WIN.
Note: The nominations are NOT confirmed, we are just giving OUR opinion on who is most likely to win.

A Brief History Of The Emmys

If you are familiar with the Emmy Awards, feel free to skip this section. The Emmy Awards is an award ceremony held first in 1949 to recognize excellence in the television industry. The upcoming Emmy in September will be a Primetime Emmy awarded to American TV celebrities. The 2 most popular Emmys are the Primetime Emmys and the Daytime Emmys, both awarded to Americans. The International Emmys awards international TV celebrities.
The Emmy Award!

With That Said, Lets Get To The Topic

Here are 10 of the most popular celebrities and TV shows expected to win (In no particular order)...

10. Jim Parsons from The Big Bang Theory

The traditional "Best Comedy Actor Award" winner is expected to make his move again this September. With 6 Emmy Awards nominations and taking 4 under his belt, he is a force to be reckoned with in the 2015 Emmy Awards. Jim has won the 2010, 2011, 2013 and 2014 "Best Comedy Actor" Award. However, he was beat in 2009 and 2012 by Alec Baldwin and Jon Cryer respectively.

9. Julia Louis-Dreyfus from Veep

Although Veep was beat by Modern Family in the "Best Comedy Series Award", Julia Louis-Dreyfus still continues to rock the "Best Comedy Actress Award" by winning it 3 times in a row! She will be competing for her fourth this September.

8. Modern Family

This TV comedy series is predicted to win again in 2015 after  winning the "Best Comedy Series Award" in 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013 and 2014. And guess what, this series first started in 2009! The reason why is quite obvious, this series provides a very HONEST perspective of a modern American family's lifestyle.
The series will be aiming for its 6th award this September.

7. Game Of Thrones

Despite me really hating this show, this TV series will be looking to win its first "Best Drama Series Award". Don't take it easy with this series, as it has also won the "Outstanding Sound Editing Award- Series" in 2012 and the "Outstanding Art Direction For A Contemporary Or Fantasy Series Award" in 2014. Yes, the name is that long.

6. Jon Hamm from Mad Men

After being nominated for "Best Drama Actor Award" 7 TIMES IN A ROW, and only winning one in 2008, I'm sure Jon will be trying hard to win his second. It is most likely that he will be competing against his rivals Bryan Cranston from Breaking Bad and Damian Lewis from Homeland.

5. Julianna Marguiles from The Good Wife

With 2 "Best Drama Actress Award" wins- 2014 and 2011. Julianna will be defending her title in 2015 along with the popular TV show, The Good Wife. Some of her close rivals include Claire Davis from Homeland and Viola Davis from How To Get Away With Murder.

4. The Amazing Race

EVERYONE knows this reality TV series. After the 27TH season just kicking off this past June. Expect to see a lot from this TV series as it will be going for a win in the "Best Reality Competition Program". Close rivals include The Voice and So You Think You Can Dance.

3. Ryan Seacrest from American Idol

We all are familiar with this guy. Rated 5/5 by GoldDerby, he will be looking for his first win in the "Best Reality Host Award". With American Idol, he was nominated 6 times for this award and has yet to win it. Don't underestimate him, though, as he has won once in 2010 with Jamie Oliver's Food Revolution.

2. The Tonight Show

Remember Jimmy Fallon? Yeah, he hosts this talk show, if you don't know. This talk show is rated 8.1/10 by IMDb and will be wanting to win its first Primetime Emmy in the "Best Variety Talk Show Award".

1. Saturday Night Live

The name is no stranger to us, well it's been on air for more than 3 decades, so yeah. This TV series has 40 SEASONS altogether! It will be looking to win this September in the "Best Variety Sketch Series Award".

Well, I guess that's it. Remember that these are not confirmed and are just predictions. Feel free to tell us if we had any incorrect statements given or if we missed anything out, we will correct them immediately.

Fact: The name "Emmy" is a feminization of the nickname "Immy", an abbreviation of  the image orthicon tube, which is a part of  a TV camera.

Historical Saturday's#6 Marco Polo

HISTORICAL SATURDAY’S#6- MARCO POLO

Welcome back fellow viewers to another Historical Saturday article. Personally, its been a while since we had this and I’m sure some of us feel that this is getting a bit stale, so I shall be doing post something special in a week or two.

Well, on to the topic, today we are going to touch on one of the most influential travellers that inspired many other explorers. His name is Marco Polo. Marco Polo was famous for travelling to Mongolia, China, alongside his books and reputation with the Mongolian ruler Kublai Khan.

Early Life

Marco Polo was born in 1254 in Venice, Italy along with a wealthy merchant family. He lived with his father, Niccolo, and his uncle Maffeo, both who were successful jewel merchants. His mother died when he was young, therefore his extended family raised him up

Reason being to why the brothers, Niccolo and Maffeo Polo only came back after a long time was because they had left for a long-term trading expedition. They encountered a few problems on the way back, such as the Fourth Crusade, The Byzantine conquest of Constantinople and the Mongolian Empire.

During these encounters they were greeted by the Mongolian embassy to meet Kublai Khan. They met Kublai Khan and he questioned them on European affairs. He told the both of them to go back to tell the Pope to bring Christianity to Mongolia. They arrived back in Venice in 1269 and it was the first time Marco Polo met his father.

Marco Polo’s trip to China

In 1271, two years after the brothers came back, they along with Marco decided to go back to Mongolia. They got hold of what they could to fulfill Kublai’s request, such as Holy Oil, gifts, documents and two clergy from a church before returning to him.

The two clergy soon abandoned their expedition to Kublai Khan, but the Polos continued.  They travelled on camel till they reached a Persian port city of Hormuz. They searched for a suitable ship, but there were none to suit their liking. The Polos gave up on the search and took several trade routes that were known to be the Silk Road.

It took the Polos an additional three years to reach Mongolia, after having to pass a perilous journey. Kublai took Marco Polo into his court as a tax collector, a governor and an inspector. Marco Polo was basically his right hand man, and he travelled around Asia alongside learning the languages.

Marco Polo spent 24 years in the continent of Asia and working for the Mongolian Empire. The Polo’s decided to go back to Venice, but Marco was captured during a battle on the way back home. He was captured by the Genoese army in 1298, but released in 1299.

Legacy

Altogether, they travelled the Asia continent for thousands of miles and passed through China, India and Japan. Marco documented all of his explorations and wrote many documents and books about it. All of which would become a big part in the inspiration of explorers, such as Christopher Columbus.

Marco Polo died in the year 1324 in Venice, he was succeeded by his wife and three daughters, but he left many documents and books that would inspire many explorers.

Android VS. iOS: The Battle Of The Operating Systems!!! + Vox Pops

Android VS iOS

There has always been this long-term rivalry between the 2 most popular operating systems- Android and iOS... Many people also have difficulties choosing between the two.
Today, we will give you all the information (advantages and disadvantages) you need so that YOU can make this tough decision.
Let the games begin!

Android

Android is a Linux-based operating system currently developed by Google and is compatible with most smart phones and tablets.

Advantages
  • Can run on multiple platforms thanks to its SDK (Software Developer Kit)
  • Offers a more customizable UI (User Interface)
  • Cheaper Apps
  • Since it runs on multiple platforms, it will be easier to choose a more thrifty device and it will have no difference from the more expensive one
  • The option of installing apps from other sources

Disadvantages

  • Easily overheated
  • Some apps are without quality since it is cheaper to publish apps on the Google Play Store
  • Might hang
  • Every Android phone might have a different setup, making it harder to find certain options
  • Large apps are sometimes forced to close down
The Android SDK!!!
This is a Samsung GalaxyS5 overheating, notice that it forces you to close the app too...

iOS

iOS is a mobile operating system created by Apple and is compatible with ALL of Apple's mobile products.

Advantages

  • Consistent interface/user experience
  • Easy-to-use
  • Strong security
  • Many quality apps on the App Store
  • Can multitask better

Disadvantages

  • Expensive devices
  • Paid apps are more expensive on the App Store compared to those on the Google Play Store
  • Requires users to jailbreak for customization
  • Only supports Apple products
  • No offline map support
The easy-to-use iOS UI, this is a comparison of the iOS 8 and 9 UIs
Apple can deny warranty of jailbroken devices

With that said, let's get to the people's opinions! (Vox Pops)

1. Joshua Long

"I personally prefer Android as there are more themes available and I can customize my phone to my content. Furthermore, Google Play Store apps are mostly free, who doesn't like free apps, right?"

2. Chong Jinn Xiung
"iOS is my selected operating system of choice. The operating system is designed specifically for Apple devices and works best with them. iOS also gets system updates yearly that keep older devices up to par with the latest. It is also more secure than Android with lower chances of malfunction and viruses affecting it. It is my preferred system as I like the wide variety of apps available, it suits my needs and it offer more customization."

"I firmly believe that iOS is the superior system as it is cleaner, more efficient and has all the apps I LOVE!"

3. Mr. Hooi

"To me, both systems has its pros and cons . Lets start with IOS, IOS is designed by Apple and only used by their devices, so it can operate and run smoothly without having to deal with any problems like crashes and lagging, which are very annoying if you are rushing to reply someone. IOS also comes with everything you will probably need for your daily tasks, like notes, maps, stocks, a compass, weather reports, calculator etc. The latest update even comes with garageband and apps that you can write your presentations on. But IOS lacks flexibility and excitement, it's like it has laws you must obey. You cannot customise your phone so that it differ from others, you also cannot download things from the internet.

On the other hand, Android gives you the freedom to do anything you like to your own phone. If you don't like the look of your launcher, you can find wide varieties of different launchers on the internet and download the one you like. You can do whatever you like, instead of just using the original settings it gave you. Basically, Android has everything that IOS has, but IOS doesn't has everything Android has. But the freedom comes with a price, Android overheats fast, and you often experience lags and crashes.

One other important point is budget, with the price of one iPhone you can buy three Android phones. Some even say Apple devices are unnecessarily expensive. Why spend so much more money when you can get a smartphone that can do even more work with a cheaper price. Maybe some people just like the simple look of IOS and don't want to deal with other problems.

So in conclusion, if you want a phone that lasts longer, run smoother and does all the needed work, then you would want an IOS device. If you want a phone that is cheaper, looks and works the way you want it to, then you would want to want to buy an Android device."

A Short Break...

We Are Taking A Short Break!

For the past few weeks, we have been constantly uploading blog posts, and now we have a tedious task up our sleeves. Due to this, we are taking the week off. Here is a sneak peak of what is next to come from us!

The Task At Hand

We are supposed to make a 'Vox Pops' upload, expect it uploaded somewhere within the next few days!
Well, what is a 'Vox Pops'? It is an interview with the members of the public asking for their own opinion on a certain topic. Here is an example of a 'Vox Pops' upload...

Now you have seen what we are up to that is SO tedious, expect an interesting topic from us, though. Goodbye for now...

Scientific Sunday#5- Thermodynamics

Thermodynamics

Fire and heat are one of the if not the best source of energy. They are the primordial form of energy. The term thermodynamics was Greek for heat and power. The discovery of fire is like a milestone for the human race, it essentially ensures and speeds up the growth of the human civilization. Without fire, many things wouldn't have happened. In science thermodynamics describes the relationship of heat to work. Heat is not something that an object contains. It is a flow of energy: temperature simply measures an object's ability to transfer heat energy to another object or system. For example: The hot water in a tub is full of high energy molecules that can move their energy to the bathing person's cooler body. Entropy, a key concept in thermodynamics, is the proportion of thermal energy that is unavailable for such work due to the random motion of particles.

SECOND LAW OF THERMODYNAMICS
The second law of thermodynamics describes the natural process of energy, while energy can neither be created or destroyed, it does change form. Real-world processes invariably end up with less energy that can do work since they used up their potential energy, so entropy increases.

For example: an engine converts chemical energy, lets say gasoline, into motion and heat. When the gasoline runs out, the engine stops. A firework explodes with the force of expanding gases, after which its usable energy is dissipated. The process doesn't run in reverse. Similarly, heat energy always moves from hot things to cold, never the other way round. A mug of hot coffee will transfer thermal energy to its cooler surroundings until the coffee and surrounding reach what's called thermodynamic equilibrium- both the surroundings and coffee are at the same temperature. The system retains the same amount of energy overall, but its usable energy is spent.

An Air-conditioner

One of the many machines that applies thermodynamics is the savior of people who live in tropical countries: Air-conditioners. But how much do you know about how these things work? Rather than saying that an air-conditioner gives out cold air to cool the room, it would be more accurate to say that it removes the heat from the room.  To fully understand it, you must understand the state of matter is related to temperature. Heat up an ice cube it melts, apply 100C or more heat to water and it evaporates. Similarly, withdraw heat from gas and it liquefies, withdraw from liquid and it freezes.

Air conditioning works by forcing a chemical called Freon to cycle between liquid and gas forms. The reason why Freon is an ideal choice is because it has a very low boiling point, since the bond between its molecules is weak. Inside an air conditioner, Freon is kept in a tube at very high pressure and then released through a valve into a low-pressure evaporator.  With no pressure pushing them together, Freon molecules boils and vaporizes. As I had stated earlier, changes of states of matter require heat, so Freon will takes the heat from air the room. After doing so, Freon passes to a compressor which pushes the molecules back together and into the condenser tube, where it liquefies. The heat associated with vaporizing is lost and released outdoors. Now, the process repeats again.

A Refrigerator

A machine similar to the air-conditioner, a refrigerator keeps your food fresh and cold drinks cold.  Both air-conditioners and refrigerators were developed around the early 20th century. Refrigerator enter the world to tackle a more pressing problem: food spoilage. Before refrigerators, people kept their food cold using an insulated box containing a hunk of ice. Modern day refrigerators combines the ice box with the same technology used in
air-conditioning.

A refrigerant fluid is made to vaporize via a change in pressure, absorbing heat from inside the fridge, and then condenses in a condenser tube, and releases the heat outside the refrigerator. Both the refrigerator and the air-conditioner use pressure differences to promote vaporization and condensation. The work overcame a law-governing natural processes: that heat can never flow from a cooler zone to a hotter one.

Historical Saturday's #5- The Dog Whisperer

HISTORICAL SATURDAY’S#5
THE DOG WHISPERER- CESAR MILLAN

Hello again fellow viewers of Big Time Data, welcome back for another exclusive of Historical Saturday’s. Today we are going to look into one of the most well known people on Earth.

He is not any ordinary person and no matter how many times he does he never seizes to impress. Let’s give applause to Cesar Millan, The Dog Whisperer!!! Well, I guess the title gave it away.

Cesar Millan has become a best friend towards dogs, especially the naughty, rude and untrained.  Cesar has established a reputation through his show called The Dog Whisperer on the National Geographic channel. Cesar Millan on every of his episodes always say’s that “No dog is too hard for him to handle.” And he lives up to his word.

So what is the mystery behind the Dog Whisperer? Who is he? Where does he come from? Well that will all be explained soon.

(Look who’s in the spotlight?)

Origins

(What a happy family)
Cesar Millan was born on August 27th 1969 in a city called Culiacan in the northwest part of Mexico. Cesar grew up with his parents, and they were into the farming workforce. His family was poor and Cesar lived his childhood cut off from the latest technology/ entertainment.

Man sure feels hard and the worst part tempting, but it all comes down to good us. Which of course Cesar chose other ways to entertain himself. This would lead to his personality today, good job man.

Cesar Millan’s grandfather was a Campesino (farm worker) who looked after the animals in the farm. Cesar said that he loved to watch the animals in the farm doing their jobs, especially the dogs. He started to realize something about the dog’s personality. Cesar made a bold statement to himself saying that dogs don’t need training they just needed to respect their owners and a natural leader.

Millan first got his lesson about dogs from the dogs that he owned. He watched their behavior, appearance, actions and many prospects about them. Having no knowledge to any information about the biology of canine, he observed how his grandfather controlled them.
After careful observation, Cesar managed to control the dogs himself.

Pursuing Dreams

Cesar Millan’s family then moved to the city of Culiacan, where his father got a job as an official government photographer. They earned a TV set along the years and Cesar spent it wisely by watching shows to become a dog trainer. He then became a local vet doing the low class jobs, such as cleaning. The staff at the place called him “ El Perrero” The Dog Boy.

At the age of 21, Cesar decided it was time to cross the border to America, and by that he meant illegally. Well, it was all for the greater good of pursuing his dreams on becoming a dog trainer. It was a perilous journey and risk he made, the consequence was that he had to spend hours in a water hole, avoiding patrols. Though he managed to successfully cross the border.
He managed to find a job in San Diego, working in a grooming parlor. He soon built a reputation about curing dog behavior problems. Even with his building reputation, he had no formal dog training. Cesar’s name was spread after he helped actor Will Smith with his dog’s behavior. This was a miracle for him as he was recommended to many people and celebrities, and from then on his fame was sealed.

(Can you imagine doing that?)
 Cesar’s Way

(This Cesar not the other one!!!)

Cesar has his own unique way on training dogs, and it is not only just basic commands. Cesar claims that he transforms the badly behaved dogs’ and re-trains their owners. Now enough talk bout this and lets dive into how he does it.

He teaches owners the importance of strong leadership, how to stand tall and confidence. He claims that there are no short cuts to this process, though he often cures dogs’ bad behavior in a short space of time. Cesar also insists that owners should never get physical with their dogs and to always teach the Alpha Roll and choke collars.

Cesar stated that he does believe that dogs should be trained to day-to-day basis. This is to prevent unusual behavior, and of course to keep the dog fit and healthy.

As stated earlier about dogs having a natural leader and respect of their owners, Cesar uses this proven effective method. In my opinion it is a brilliant idea, as it greatly relates to the saying “Dogs Man’s best friend” it sounds so simple. Well to me it is really like making friends with other human beings today. Though Cesar has already said that dog’s psychology is different from humans.

Verdict

Cesar Millan is a friend to every dog and is a good man to begin with. He is a good role model to follow and has great thinking skills. Thanks for all the helpful advice Cesar.

(Thanks A Lot )
